K.B Toys was formerly known as Kay Bee Toys, which had been a chain of mall-based retail toy outlet. In 2004, it had been the largest mall in the nation and online based retailer with 1,300 stores in 50 states. At that point of time, the retail outlet had nearly $2 billion sales per year and more than 20000 employees. It had been founded by Kaufman brothers in 1922 and is a privately held organization. Bain Capital owned the toy store and filed petitions in 2004 for bankruptcy. The company targeted for positive EBIDTA till its downfall in 2008. Presently it is under process of assets liquidation under Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December 2008.
