Sesame Workshop has acted to be the prime strength behind production of certain educational program for children that runs on public broadcasting throughout the world. They even provide various grants for conducting children's programs. Lloyd Morrisett and Joan Ganz Cooney founded the organization in 1968 with an innovative intention to produce several revolutionary television series to be based upon cutting-edge research enhancing childhood learning. Presently the organization is headed by the President and CEO, H. Melvin Ming, under whom various shows with multimedia content had been produced. Formerly, they were popular as Children's Television Workshop (CWT). The name was changed in 2000.
