Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is a privately owned company that owns and operates doughnuts & coffee shops and has been supplying the consumers with coffee and doughnuts since 1937. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts was founded by Vernon Rudolph in 1937. It began its operations by selling doughnuts to consumers on the sidewalk and also to local grocery stores. In the 40's and 50's, the company opened a mix plant where the doughnuts were made then supplied to all Krispy Kreme stores. The process of making doughnuts was then automated from then on. In 1976, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts was sold to Beatrice Foods Company after death of Rudolph.
