L G & E and KU Energy LLC is a subsidiary of PPL Corporation. The company is made of Louisville Gas & Electric (LG&E) and Kentucky Utilities (KU), Western Kentucky Energy and Old Dominion Power (ODP). The company along with its subsidiaries is engaged into distribution, generation, transmission and selling electric energy. L G & E and KU Energy LLC generate electricity from oil and gas, hydro energy and coal sources. It had been formed in 1998 when the company had acquired KU and ODP converting its name to "LG&E Energy". On 28th April 2010, E.ON and PPL had announced for definite agreement wherein PPL had acquired E.ON for $7.625 billion. This sale had been closed on 1st November 2010 with the company converting its name to L G & E and KU Energy.
