NACCO Industries, Inc stands for North American Coal Corporation. It is an operating holding comp with subsidiaries in the following principal industries like lift trucks, specialty retail, small appliances, and mining. It was established in collaboration with The Cleveland and Western Coal Company. However the changed its name in 1925 and operate operated exclusively in the coal industry until the acquisition of Yale Materials Handling Corporation in 1985. In 1988 the company extended itself to houseware with the purchase of Proctor Silex and Hamilton, and extended its presence in the materials handling industry by adding the Hyster Company in 1989.
