The National Wildlife Federation or NWF is USA's biggest private, nonprofit advocacy organization and conservation education with more than four million members and supporters, and forty-eight states and territorial affiliated organizations. In 1936 Jay Norwood Darling founded the General Wildlife Federation which later in 1938 became the National Wildlife Federation. Now the company is based in Reston VA. The NWF struggles to remain a national network for territorial groups and like-minded states, seeking balanced, rational solutions to environmental issues that work for wildlife and people. Its mission statement is to inspire American people to protect wildlife for our children's future.
